Advantages of Melt Pump in Screw Extruder

　　The main function of the melt pump is to pressurize the high temperature plastic melt from the extruder and feed the flow into the extruder head steadily after stabilization. Its ability of stabilizing melt pressure and flux is superior to that of various types of extruders. It is used in series with single screw or co-rotating twin screw extruder. This will increase the benefit of the whole production line. The main advantages of using melt pumps are:

　　1. Reduce the dimension tolerance of extruded products to the minimum, so that more products can be produced from materials per unit weight. When the dimension tolerance of extruded products is strict or the cost of raw materials is expensive, it is more necessary and valuable to use melt pump.

　　2. Combining co-rotating twin-screw extruder and melt pump into a mixing extrusion granulation production line, its mixing quality and output are greatly improved compared with the single twin-screw granulation unit. The energy consumption for processing per kilogram of materials can generally be reduced by about 25%.

　　3. Adding melt pump and pipe, plate and film extruder heads to the original single screw or co-rotating twin screw extruder. The granulation process can be omitted for direct extrusion products. This system is very suitable for extruded materials which need to be modified by blending. In addition to the advantages of Article 2 above, the system can save energy by simplifying the production process of extruded products and shortening the production cycle.

　　4. It is possible to supply a melt pump with several small and medium-sized extruders at the same time. The melt is pressurized and metered by the melt pump and then supplied to the die for extrusion of large-sized products (large-caliber pipe, wide-width plate, membrane, etc.). The production line with this configuration has compact structure and small floor area, and the cross-section size of extruded products is more accurate and easy to control.

　　S. The melt pump on the single screw exhaust extruder can make the system operate freely and have excellent performance. Under high head pressure and high output, the extrusion volume can be adjusted at will without any feeding.
